Semester & Master Projects Students
The fees of the standard equipment used by the semester/master students are covered by the teaching budget of the CMI. However, a contribution might be asked, to the unit in charge of the student, for the semester/master projects inducing a strong activity within the CMI. In any case, the special tools and the special consumables are charged to the unit. Only regular semester projects (resulting in EPFL ECTS credits or grades) are considered as semester projects. Other internship projects are charged like PhD projects.
EPFL Researchers and External Academic Users
For the EPFL researchers and for the external academic users, a contractual participation to the consumable expenses will be charged, on a hourly rate of equipment usage (CHF 80.-/hour for the standard tools), with a monthly cap of CHF 1'600.-, in the event of going beyond 20 hours in the use of the equipment. The fees of the special tools are not included in the monthly cap.
The costs of the wafers, of the masks, of the precious metals and of the special products are also invoiced separately.
Industrial Users
External users whose company are associated with the CMI (according to the contract with the CMI), and with a project of collaboration with the EPFL, can have direct access to the CMI. In addition to the equipment hourly fees and to the expenses of the consumables, the companies will be charged a monthly contribution of CHF 2000.-, giving a right of access for one person and for one month to the CMI.
CMI Services
Performances of services can be carried out by the members of the staff of the CMI, according to the availability of the people and of the equipment. These services are invoiced on the basis of an estimate.
